Now in its second round, the OPD scheme matches people from migrant communities in Ireland with TDs for a six month internship. Over the six month period, the migrant will work as a volunteer in the office of the TD where s/he will gain an invaluable insight into the workings of the Irish political system by assisting the TD with their daily work.
The scheme aims to enhance the transparency of Irish politics and make it more accessible and meaningful to a marginalised and growing group of people that constitute 12% of the population of Ireland. Click here to listen to the interview.
This project is co-financed by the European Commission under the European Integration Fund
and is supported by the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration in the Dept of Justice & Equality & Pobal.
