Crosscare Migrant Project, together with our Refugee Service and Housing and Welfare Information projects congratulate Minister Frances Fitzgerald on her appointment as Minister for Justice and Equality.

Crosscare Information and Advocacy Service works with over 5,000 people per year through our drop in service. This gives us a significant insight into the challenges faced by migrants when establishing their lives in Ireland.

We acknowledge the significant improvements made by former Minister Alan Shatter, notably the huge improvement in the naturalisation process. However there are many things we feel could be done to make Ireland a real place of welcome, support and safety. We look forward to working with Minister Fitzgerald and the Department of Justice and Equality in improving the migrant experience in Ireland.
