Crosscare Migrant Project is funded by Fingal County Council to run five workshops entitled ‘Living in Ireland – Sharing Migrant Experiences’. The workshops are based on our immigrant integration print and online resource, Living in Ireland: www.livinginireland.ie which was launched last year.

The workshops introduce migrants to Irish culture and provide a space for newly arrived migrants, more established migrants and Irish citizens to share their experiences of living in Ireland. The content of the workshop includes: dimensions of culture and diversity, stereotyping and generalisation, Irish equality legislation, benefits of integration, looking after your mental health and advantages of diversity. The aim of the workshops is to pass on practical information by learning from everyone’s experiences and they are facilitated by Dil Wickremasinghe, social entrepreneur and presenter of Global Village on Newstalk 106-108FM.

The first workshop took place on 15th July 2010 in the Crosscare building on Main Street, Blanchardstown. Before the workshop Dil Wickremasinghe along with Nicola Yau, Information Officer with Crosscare Migrant Project, talked to Susan King from Phoenix FM.

Dates and locations for the remaining workshops will be available soon so watch this space! In the meantime listen to the interview on Phoenix FM.
