The Reactivation Employment Permit Scheme is a scheme for non-EEA migrants who previously had an employment permit in Ireland. Where these workers lost their permit through no fault of their own, or were badly treated or exploited in the workplace, this scheme allows the person to apply for temporary immigration permission so that they can work legally again and make an application for a Reactivation Employment Permit.

Last week the Student Review Office announced that spouses and civil partners of students who were granted the 2004 Student Probationary Extension will now be considered for an extension of their student permission. The application period is next week 8th - 10th May.

Today the Department of Justice (INIS) and the Department of Jobs announced some new initiatives relating to Employment Permits. The new procedures will allow Non-EEA nationals to apply for an employment permit if they are offered employment in an area where there is a skill shortage in the Irish labour market.
